Why Comparing Me to Your Old Accountant Isn’t Fair

Every now and then, I hear something like:

“Our old accountant didn’t charge for that.”
“We used to pay $9,000 a year.”
“You’re more expensive than our last guy.”

Here’s the truth: I’m not your old accountant.

I don’t use their pricing model, their scope of work, or their shortcuts. What you receive from me is not just tax returns it’s structure, advice, and forward planning. The cost reflects:

  • Strategic tax planning
  • Bookkeeping cleanup
  • Advisory support year round
  • A skilled team and rising wages
  • Fixing legacy issues

If you're comparing my fee to someone who simply lodged your BAS and disappeared, it’s not a fair comparison.

“Quick Questions” Aren’t Always Quick

When you call or email with a quick question, I pause what I’m doing, check the context, calculate outcomes, and provide advice advice you may later rely on. That’s professional judgement, not casual chat. And yes, it takes time.

There are quick questions, but there are no quick answers when someone is legally accountable.

Systems That Respect Both Our Time

If you’re emailing receipts and forms across 10 threads, that slows everyone down. Please use one shared folder, clearly labelled (e.g. “2025 Tax Info for Accountant”). You’ll get faster, better service because we’re not chasing pieces.

My Work Has Value And So Does Yours

My pricing is structured, transparent, and fair. I don’t undercut. I don’t inflate. I charge based on what it takes to do excellent work and protect you while doing it.

If price is your only concern, I may not be the right fit. But if you want confidence, clarity, and strategic thinking that’s what Unfair Advantage delivers.
